Kinston neighbors gathered at the Hub on Feb. 3 for the Hearts Around the Hub Brunch and a trip back in time with Loveland historian Teri Johnson and Dixie Daly of the Loveland Chamber of Commerce.
Brunch was catered by Fresh Plate and included heart-shaped pancakes, fiesta eggs, bacon, and gluten-free potato medley.
Historian and storyteller, Teri Johnson, stepped into character as Margaret Osborne, one of Loveland’s first settlers and the wife of Larimer Countyās first judge. She regaled residents with tales of life in the Sweetheart City’s early years.
Dixie Daly added stories of the Loveland Remailing Program, which is in its 78th year. Each attendee received a 2024 Valentine’s card, designed by a Loveland resident.Ā
New this year, the Kinston Hub was a drop-off location for the Loveland Remailing Program (sponsored by Kinston Centerra/McWhinney).
Following brunch, Kinston families:
- Created Valentineās cards for relatives, friends, neighbors, and residents of Capstone at Centerra (a senior-living community)
- Decorated heart-shaped cookies from Maryās Mountain Cookies
- Made heart crafts, including suncatchers, keychains, string art, and painted canvases.
- Had their faces painted by Merry Makers
- Posed for photos at the “Love is in the Air” booth
