SUMMARY:Bird Walk & Banding (HPEC)
DESCRIPTION:Join Scott Rashid\, Director of the Colorado Avian Research and Rehabilitation Institute (CARRI)\, at HPEC for a lively bird-banding demonstration. This is a wonderfully interactive and educational citizen-science opportunity for the whole family. Songbirds are caught in mist nets\, and carefully measured and banded. Depending on the number of birds that arrive\, attendees may have the opportunity to hold the birds and observe them up close before releasing them. Bird banding is a national program administered jointly by the US Geological Survey and the Canadian Wildlife Service to support avian research. The information recorded at our bird bandings is sent to the USGS Bird Banding Laboratory in Laurel\, MD to be utilized for scientific research. \nImmediately after\, Sheila Webber\, seasoned birder of Ft. Collins Audubon\, will lead a casual bird walk at Equalizer Lake. Birders will be given a bird checklist of species typically seen in our area\, and the bird count for the day will be sent to eBird and to all registrants. Binoculars\, water bottle and comfortable walking shoes are recommended. \nEasy walk on natural-surface trails. All ages are welcome. \nRegister for this month’s bird walk.

SUMMARY:Wild Wonderful Weekend: Harvest Jamboree
DESCRIPTION:Kick off Wild Wonderful Weekend with a night of live music\, great food\, local brews\, and Colorado-style fun at The Hub! \nThe Harvest Jamboree is your chance to gather with friends\, dance under the open sky\, and celebrate the start of an unforgettable weekend packed with music\, nature\, culture\, and adventure. Grab a bite from The Hub Café\, relax on the lawn\, and enjoy live music from WireWood Station as they set the soundtrack for a perfect Colorado evening. \nWhile you’re here\, take some time to connect with the High Plains Environmental Center (HPEC) and learn how they’ve helped shape the beautiful natural spaces that make Centerra so special. You can support their mission by participating in our charity raffle and silent auction\, with plenty of exciting items\, experiences\, and opportunities to give back. \n\nA Celebration Made Possible by Community \nWild Wonderful Weekend is presented by Centerra Engagement Assembly (CEA)\, whose vision and commitment to bringing the community together make this celebration possible. \nWe’re also proud to shine a light on High Plains Environmental Center (HPEC)\, our beneficiary and one of the visionaries behind Centerra’s Certified Wildlife Habitat designation through the National Wildlife Federation. HPEC has played an important role in shaping the natural landscape of Centerra and championing the connection between people\, wildlife\, native plants\, and the places we call home. Saturday is an opportunity to experience that vision firsthand and support the work that continues to make our community wild at heart. \nThis celebration is made even stronger through the support of our incredible community partners: Visit Loveland\, Promenade Shops at Centerra\, Chapungu Sculpture Park\, Reporter-Herald\, Townsquare Media\, and The Hub Café at Kinston. \nWhether you’re dancing with friends\, enjoying a sunset over the Rockies\, or simply soaking up the community spirit\, the Harvest Jamboree is the perfect way to start the weekend. Come celebrate\, make memories\, and get ready for three incredible days of fun\, discovery\, and adventure!
